Walking and cycling through the stunning nature reserve surrounding Camping Geversduin really is a treat. Just going for a little stroll, or do you fancy a heavy walkingtour, biking route or excursion? Walk by the reception desk for more information about the area, activities and tours. We here sell walking- and cycling routes and it's posible to rent various types of bicycles! For visiting the North Holland Dune Reserve you'll need a dunecard.
As a guest of the campsite, you'll receive this dune card upon arrival. Visitors who are not staying at Geversduin must purchase a dune card for the nature reserve at the reception or the machine at the PWN parking lot.

Routes for hiking or biking
NS walk NH Dune Reserve
From Castricum station to Egmond aan Zee. For nature lovers, this NS walk is a good one. With forest, open field and dunes, there is plenty of variety. Along the way you may see some of the local wildlife: from Scottish Highland cattle, Konik horses and Exmore ponies to sheep and goats. A beautiful route winds over high grass dunes and through deep valleys.
Enjoy the Historical Route
Fancy a brisk walk with a nice dose of history? Starting from the pleasant tourist town of Castricum you can experience this beautiful walk to the Marquette estate. Back in Castricum you can discover the archaeological past of the region in the museum Huis van Hilde. The route is approximately 16.5 kilometres. You can also start from the campsite.
Ride the scenic Ferry Route
The so-called 'Pontjesroute' (ferry route) is an attractive round along the Alkmaarder- and Uitgeestermeer, which includes five ferries. On two of them you have to cross the stream yourself by turning a winch. The Pontjesroute starts and ends in Castricum at the NS station, but you may also start at a different location on the roundtrip.
Discover dunes, village and sea
Enjoy the beautiful dune reserve and the cozy villages in the area. The dunes you'll cycle through are unique in the Netherlands, even in Europe! Along the way you're able to get a view of the North Sea, you'll ride through the forests, over country roads and through the countryside. In addition to the unique natural surroundings, you'll also cycle past buildings that are full of history, such as castles, forts and country estates.
Horseriding in nature
There probably is no better way to discover the North Holland Dune Reserve than on horseback. Ridingschool (manege) Heemskerk is situated right accross the street opposite to Geversduin. Here they organize forest- and dunerides with horses, from one to three hours of which the longest also visit the beach. You'll be accompanied by an experienced tour guide. Of course they'll examine probable experience, rider weight and proper clothing.
